Experience a cozy Swedish 'fika' moment with this creamy oat milk latte, subtly infused with aromatic cardamom. It's a vegan delight that marries robust coffee with a comforting, spiced sweetness.
Why it's healthy
This latte uses plant-based oat milk, which is naturally cholesterol-free and often fortified with vitamins and minerals. Cardamom offers potential antioxidant benefits and aids digestion, making this a comforting and health-conscious beverage choice.
Ingredients
2 shots (approx. 60ml) strong brewed coffee or espresso
200ml barista-style oat milk
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground cardamom, plus extra for garnish
1-2 teaspoons maple syrup or agave nectar (optional, to taste)
Instructions
1. Brew your strong coffee or espresso and pour into your serving mug.
2. In a small saucepan, gently heat the oat milk over medium-low heat until warm but not boiling. Add the 1/4 teaspoon of ground cardamom.
3. If using an espresso machine, steam the oat milk until hot and frothy, incorporating the cardamom evenly. If using a frother, pour the warm oat milk and cardamom mixture into the frother and froth until desired consistency is reached. Alternatively, whisk vigorously by hand until foamy.
4. If desired, stir in 1-2 teaspoons of maple syrup or agave nectar into the frothed oat milk.
5. Carefully pour the frothed oat milk over the brewed coffee in your mug.
6. Garnish with a small sprinkle of fresh ground cardamom before serving.
