An aromatic and traditional cooling drink from the Indian subcontinent, made with sandalwood, sugar, and water, prized for its unique flavor and refreshing properties.
Why it's healthy
Chandan Sharbat is valued in Ayurveda for its cooling (sheetal) properties, making it a traditional choice for hydration during hot weather. While primarily a sugar-sweetened beverage, it offers a caffeine-free way to help cool the body. The main ingredient, sandalwood, is not a significant source of macro or micronutrients in the small quantity used, but its aromatic compounds are believed to have a calming effect. This drink's primary health benefit is promoting hydration, which is crucial for replenishing fluids lost through perspiration and preventing heat-related ailments in warm climates.

1 cup chilled water
1/8 tsp cardamom powder (optional)
A few drops of rose water (optional)
Ice cubes, for serving
